Independence Day Benefit Concert

Throop Unitarian Universalist Church, 300 S. Los Robles Street, Pasadena, California

To celebrate our independence, and all the opportunities this great country offers us, we will be raising funds for a remarkable charity operating in Haiti. Charity is the wrong word. Fonkoze is a micro-finance institution that makes loans to deserving people who want to earn their own money. Having been organized with help from both Grameen Bank, and BRAC, the two largest, best micro-lending outfits, Fonkoze seeks to improve the very fabric of life in Haiti. Poverty has gripped this nation for far too long. The earthquake, and hurricanes made it worse, but this country has long needed better economic structures. Fonkoze is one of the great NGOs stepping up to do the real work.

Please look into Fonkoze. They have a top rating from Charity Navigator, with 9 out of every 10 dollars going to the people they are trying to help.

Come enjoy an evening of music, food, fellowship, and laughter, as we express our gratitude for our great nation, and contribute a little bit to help another nation come into its own.

With: BRAD COLERICK, MALDERINE BIRMINGHAM, JOHN ZIPPERER, TAPIA COREL, DAVE MORRISON, and DUANE THORIN. Some of the musicians will be solo, and other will have their backing bands, and musical partners along. More on that later/
